From the Editors
A perfect addition to your Riedel collection, these Riedel Vinum Extreme Cabernet/Merlot glasses are designed specifically for wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The Extreme line, most known for their larger, more dramatic diamond shaped bowls, provide an even larger surface area, exposing the wine to more oxygen and allowing it to fully open up, resulting in heightened performance, and further enhanced drinking experience for those using them. The Riedel Vinum Extreme collection was designed in response to the continued improvement in the quality of wines being produced today. As wines have become more dense, concentrated and perfected, so has the call for new glass shapes. The Extreme line is machine-made of 24% lead crystal.

Customer Response
If you can pay 50+ dollars for a bottle of wine, you can pay $30 for this glass.
Pros
Really brings out the nose in the wine.
Wine tastes a bit better too.
Work of art.
Cons
Pricey.
Fragile (you must ALWAYS baby it).
For serious wine lovers
As they say-you get what you pay for. These are great glasses for cabernet; they allow you to enjoy the bouquet besides just the taste of the wine.
Pricey, but I love them
These are beautiful glasses made at an extremely high quality. I just wish my wife would stop knocking them on the floor.
You should try these glasses
I attended a party some years back and the host opened some wines that had people oohing and aahhing. This party opened up a whole new world to me which was unexpected. The host's brother, who had worked at Columbia Winery in Washington State, saw I had been poured some of this prized wine from the host's cellar and was drinking it from a smallish wine glass of dubious ancestry. He asked what I thought of the wine, which I replied was delicious, and he brought one of the host's Riedel glasses to me. I was asked to taste it in the ordinary glass and then taste it after pouring it into the Riedel. I was skeptical and thought he was a real wine snob. But when I followed his suggestion it was almost as if I was drinking two different wines and the Riedel glass clearly brought out the best of the wine.
I asked for a set of the Pinot Noir/Burgundy glasses that Christmas, a set of Chardonnay the following Christmas and now I'm buying myself a set of the Cabernet/Merlot glasses as a New Year's present.
You will not regret the expense of these glasses once you sip something tasty from them. And you may find that people who don't know of these glasses or the reason for them may snicker as I did the first time I saw the size of them. Just buy them and enjoy and do for any skeptics what the party's host's brother did for me those years ago. Do a side by side test with the same wine in ordinary wine glass and a Riedel. Maybe they will be swayed like I was and then become a student of wines.
Big Glass for a Big Red
This is a very nice wine glass and the biggest red wine glass I have owned. It is significantly larger (28oz vs 22oz, about an inch taller and has a wider bowl) than the Riedel Vinum Red Wine Glasses I own. Personally, it is not as comfortable to hold due to the very large size. Also, be very careful hand washing all Riedel Red Wine Glasses as not to twist off the stem. I've done it twice when I thought I was being careful. My recommendation - skip the 'Vinum Extreme' line, stick with the 'Vinum' line.
